High in Ecuador's cloud forests, a young sunbittern spreads its wings in an early display, casting flashes of orange, black and white through the filtered green light. The sudden contrast cuts through the moss‑covered branches and leaf‑shadowed understorey, offering a snapshot of the species' dramatic wing patterns.
